Programmes to mark World Environment Day
Gulbarga, DHNS:

The Karnataka Rajya Vijnyna Parishat, District Science Committee, Public Instruction Department, and the district administration are jointly organising severalprogrammes in the City on June 5, on the occasion of ‘World Environment Day’.
Speaking to reporters  Karnataka Rajya Vijnyna Parishat Working Committee Member H C Patil said the rally will be taken out to create awareness among people with regard to the immediate need to protect environment. He said the rally would be inaugurated by the retired teacher B K Chalgeri at the Jagat Chowk in the City at 8:30 am. Mr Vajrakumar Kiwde, Yuvaraj Gadi, Narasappa R, and others would be participating on the occasion.
Going through the main thoroughfares in the City, the rally would culminate in the mini Vidhana Soudha premises, where the deputy commissioner’s office is situated. Later, a memorandum will be submitted to Deputy Commissioner Pankajkumar Pandey urging the authority concerned to take measures to protect the environment.
Mr Patil said, a function has been organised in  Kannada Bhavan premises at 10:45 am, wherein the district-level ‘Young Scientist Award’ would be presented. This function would be inaugurated by Agriculture Marketing and District-in-Charge Minister Sharanabasappagouda Darshnapur. Noted Physician P S Shankar, City BJP MLA Chandrashekar Patil Revoor, and others would be present.
He noted that, creating awareness with regard to the protection of the environment had become more necessary now. He pointed out that even though the human race had achieved much in the field of science and technology, still, the protection of the environment was the most neglected. The forest cover, which houses scores of animal, plant, insect, and bird species, is slowly being destroyed by mankind.
