MANGALORE AT A GLANCE

Trains to halt at Byndoor
   The railway authorities have decided to extend the temporary halt for train No 2619/2620 Matsyagandha Express and 6345/6346 Netravati Express at Byndoor station on Konkan Railway upto August 15.  According to a press release, Train No 6345 will arrive at 01.56 and depart at 01.58. Train No 6346 will arrive at 02.26 and depart at 02.28. Train No 2619 will arrive at 03.34 and depart at 03.36. While Train Number 2620 will arrive at 14.42 and depart at 14.44.
   The monsoon time table will be implemented from June 10. The timings of the trains will be as follows: Train No 6345 will arrive at 02.55 and depart at 02.57. Train No 6346 will arrive at 02.43 and depart at 02.45. Train No 2619 will arrive at 05.23 and depart at 05.25. While Train No 2620 will arrive at 14.42 and depart at 14.44.
New customs commissioner
   M Ajith Kumar has taken charge as the new Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise in Mangalore. A recipient of the Presidential award for distinguished service in 2005 and meritorious certificate from the Cental Board of Excise and Customs in 1989, Mr Ajith Kumar was the Commissioner at Chennai Customs House in the Export and Appeals divisions.A native of Calicut in Kerala, he joined Customs and Central Excise Service in 1984.
