Minimum Price For Foodgrains
New Delhi, June 3.
The National Development Council agreed in principle today to the fixing of a minimum price for foodgrains with a view to giving an incentive to the farmer for increased production.
Among the points to be worked out in regard to the minimum price are: whether it should be fixed on a national or regional basis and whether it should be fixed from year to year or on a more permanent basis.
Review Of United Nations Charter
New York, June 3.
India, Canada, Ireland and seven other members proposed setting a 1959 deadline for recommendations on review of the United Nations Charter. The 10 nations introduced a resolution in a 81-member committee of the General Assembly.

7 Elected To Council Without Contest

Bangalore, June 3.
The biennial elections to the seven seats in the State Legislative Council from the Assembly constituency became unanimous with 41 of the 48 candidates withdrawing from the contest today, the last day for withdrawal.
Of the record number of 58 nominations field, one nomination had been rejected on technical grounds. Nine persons had withdrawn from the contest yesterday.
