Indian shooters’ medal drought at the big stage continued with ace shooter Sanjeev Rajput finishing 27th, while his compatriot Gagan Narang claimed the 44th position in the men’s 50M rifle three-position event at the ISSF World Cup in Munich.
Both Rajput and Narang had a disappointing outing as they failed to qualify for the finals of the event. Rajput shot 1167 (Prone 397, Standing 380, Kneeling 390), while Narang scored 1161 (396, 382, 383) in the field of 81 shooters.
The gold in this event was won by Debevec Rajmond of Slovakia with a score of 1280.7 (1180+100.7), the silver went to American Emmons Matthew with a score of 1278.3 (1178+100.3) and Liu Gang of China shot 1274.4 (1177+97.5) to bag the bronze.
Meanwhile, in the Minimum Qualifying Section (MQS) of the women’s 10M air rifle event, Anjali Bhagwat was the best among the Indians with a score of 396 (99, 99, 100, 98), while her compatriot Tejaswini Saw-ant finished 40th with a score of 394 (100, 97, 99, 98).
The other Indians in the fray, Avneet Kaur Sidhu, Suma Shirur and Meena Kumari, fared worse as they all finished at the bottom half of the leaderboard scoring 392 (99, 97, 98, 98), 391 (97, 98, 98, 98) and 393 points (97, 99, 99, 98) respectively.
