Jyoti Randhawa birdied four of his last five holes to return a superb four-under 65 final round card to assure himself of a strong finish at the Celtic Manor Wales Open here on Sunday.
With this effort, Randhawa took his four-day aggregate to eight-under 268 and jump to tied 15th position.
Compatriot Shiv Kapur also produced his best show of the week and carded three-under 66 for a tentative tied 43rd position with a total of two-under 274.
However it was another Asian, Mardan Mamat of Singapore, who exploited good scoring conditions at the par-69 Celtic Manor Resort to the hilt by returning a brilliant seven-under 62 and jump into the lead with 12-under 264.
Tied 29th overnight, Randhawa began on a positive note by hitting a birdie on the second hole but fumbled a bit as he dropped twoshots in the next three holes. He picked up a stroke on the ninth hole to turn at level-par.
Atwal starts well
Meanwhile, Arjun Atwal seemed all set for an decent finish after he was off to a nice start on the last day of the Nationwide Tour's LaS-alle Bank Open, adds UNI from Illinois.
Atwal, tied 26th over-night, looked in good touch and birdied two of his first five holes. He hung on to that in his front nine and made the turn at two-under. Before embarking on his the last 36 holes, Atwal was placed at tied 17th position spot with an aggregate of nine-under.
Americans John Riegger and Tag Ridings, who were yet to begin their last round, were sharing the lead with 13-under 203.
Earlier on Saturday, Atwal reeled off five birdies on his back nine and recovered from a disastrous front nine to return an even-par 72 in the penultimate round of the tourney.
