Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Monday said that he has directed the DCs to initiate necessary measures for starting civil aviation in Bidar, at the earliest.
Speaking after inaugurating Siddaruda Datti Hospital and Research Centre, Mr Yediyurappa said funds have already been sanctioned for setting up of an airport, in this year’s budget.
“We have directed the DCs to acquire 125 acres land for starting air services in Bidar. And, a meeting has also been convened with Secunderabad Railway Division officials and the elected representatives of the district to discuss the construction of Bidar and Gulbarga rail route,” he said.
The State government is making all efforts and is providing necessary aid to remove the tag of one of the most backward district attached to Bidar district, he said.
In this year’s budget, Rs 1, 576 crore has been sanctioned for the implementation of Dr Nanjundaswamy Committee Report and development of Hyderabad-Karnataka region. The coalition government is committed to the overall development of this region, he said.
Measures to bolster the economic conditions of the districts would be taken up soon.
Agriculture and district-incharge Minister Bandeppa Kashampur who also spoke on the occasion said the government would provide all the assistance for the comprehensive development of the district.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind Karjol said that the district should see more development in the field education to expunge Bidar from the list of most backward districts.
