Guttedar for probe into NREGS scam
Gulbarga, DH News Service:

Former MLA and senior Congress leader Subhash Guttedar has decided to make a complaint to the Lokayukta about the alleged large scale irregularities in the implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) in Aland taluk and the involvement of Aland MLA B R Patil.
Speaking to media persons here on Monday,  Guttedar reiterated his charges of irregularities in the implementation of the scheme and dared B R Patil to face the enquiry. Welcoming the statement of Patil that he was even prepared to face CBI enquiry Guttedar said he was collecting all the relevant and required documents to vindicate his charges. He will also make complaint to the Central team which is scheduled to visit Aland in the third week of this month to study the EGS works there.
"B R Patil has made personal allegations on me instead of replying to my charges. I am ready for an open debate with him at any place, any time convenient to Patil" Guttedar asserted.
Guttedar made it clear that although irregularities may have taken place elsewhere in the constituency and the taluk, his specific charges are concerned to only four gram panchayats namely Sarasamba (which is the native of Patil), Savaleshwar, Hiroli and Jidga, where alone Rs 2.30 crore has been spent on works.
He pointed out that Patil has chosen not to answer the charges pertaining to the irregularities taken place in the said four gram panchayats.
According to Subhash Guttedar, in all these four gram panchayats hundreds of ‘fictitious’ accounts have been opened in banks and post offices. In Savaleshwar village alone 640 accounts have been opened and Rs 49 lakh has been spent. “Those who have not gone for works have also been paid wages. If a gokatta costs Rs 1 lakh the expenditure has been claimed to be Rs 3 lakh’’ Guttedar charged. He wanted to know why only special treatment has been given to four gram panchayats and why other panchayats have been left in the lurch.
Referring to charges that he (Guttedar) was politically frustrated and was knocking the doors of other political parties Guttedar said: “I have faced defeat only once where as Patil has tasted it several times. I am a Congressman and won’t leave the party. It is known to all that Patil himself is knocking the doors of Congress and BSP.’’
