Amidst reports of threat to Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Chief Minister Madhu Koda on Monday said the state government will provide security to the cricketer.
“Dhoni is Jharkhand’s and the nation’s pride. We have taken such reports (of Naxal threat) seriously and will provide whatever security he requires,” he told newsmen.
The wicketkeeper called on the Chief Minister at his residence this afternoon. During the meeting, Koda, a self-confessed fan of the star cricketer, mooted a proposal for a charity match between film stars and cricketers. It was decided that the proceeds would go to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Asked to comment on the security issue, Dhoni said it was upto the state government to decide on such matters.
Meanwhile, Dhoni gained a spot to be fourth in the latest LG-ICC player rankings for ODI batsmen.
Dhoni, man of the series in the ODI series against Bangladesh, is just five points behind Australia’s Mike Hussey.
