Forest Minister C Chennigappa may have to be arrested and produced before the court, with a Magistrate ordering a non-bailable warrant against him.
VI Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate V V Mallapure stated that the warrant would be returnable by July 7.
It was issued as Mr Chennigappa had failed to appear before the court on two occasions despite being summoned.
The summons had been issued on a complaint by former City Police Commissioner Kodandaramaiah stating that he had made certain derogatory remarks against him. The complainant sought that he must be punished under Section 500 of the Indian Penal Code for defamation.
