Filling up of backlog vacancies demanded
Davangere, DH News Service:

State BJP SC/ST Morcha on Tuesday urged the Union government to fill up all the vacant backlog vacancies in various departments at the earliest.
Speaking at a press conference here, BJP SC/ST Morcha State president Siddaraju said, “the process of filling up vacancies in various central government departments has been stalled. This in turn is causing a lot of problems for the youth belonging to scheduled tribes. The government should initiate measures to fill up the vacancies.”
The UPA government has become inactive and has literally failed to control the rise in prices. If the Union government has any concern for the development of scheduled tribes, it has to provide loan facilities for the community at low interest rate, at the nationalised banks. Apart from this, the interest of the current loans availed by the people of community too should be waived, he demanded.
In 2006-07, Rs 628 crore had been released for the development of SC/ST communities. And for the year 2006-07, Rs 1, 547 crore has been released and 80 per cent of the amount has already been spent for the purpose. The present coalition government in the State has reserved Rs 4,074 for the development of SC/STs. This clearly exhibits the commitment of the coalition government for the development of SC/STs, he elucidated.
Scheduled Tribes Corporation has been formed. In  the present budget, Rs 1,600 crore has been sanctioned for the development of STs. More stress  would be laid on setting up of residential schools and hostels for students. And, for this purpose our unit would tour the entire State, he said.
