Platform to showcase engineering talent

   Poojya Doddappa Appa College of Enineering with the assistance of central government’s Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) will be organising a two-day Students’ Project Exhbition `Technovision-2007’ here on June 7 and 8.
   Technovision is a conference of final year engineering students during which students from various parts of the country gather and exhibit their projects for competition, interaction and exchange of their technical knowledge.
  Giving details of the exhibition to media persons here on Tuesday College Principal Dr V D Mytri and Chief Co-ordinator John U Kennedy said about 130 projects in 11 engineering disciplines will be on exhibition which would arouse the interests of industry also. More than 1,000 students will participate in the annual event.
   Sponsored by the TEQUIP, Jindal Steels, NITCO Tiles and OMCAD Systems the Technovision will have exhibits from Maharashtra engineering colleges also. Out of 120 projects 90 will be internal projects and the rest from other institutions within and outside the State. Dr Mytri said experts from outside will be invited to judge the best projects and the fist two projects will be awarded a cash prie of Rs.2000 and Rs.1000. Last year, a few of the projects had drawn the attention of industry for their practical applicability.
   Dr Mytri said the exhibition provides a platform for students to compare  their project with others and evaluate themselves. The event will be inaugurated by Jindal Steels General Manager S C Vishvanath and HKE Society President Basavaraj Bhimalli will preside over. Canara Bank AGM Vaman Shenoy will be the guest of honour for the valedictory.
