Sony India clicks in new range of digital cameras

Sony India launched its high definition digital imaging products, which include four new HD camcorders and three new cyber-shot digital cameras in India.

Sony India, a leading provider of consumer electronic products, on Wednesday, launched its high definition digital imaging products, which include four new HD camcorders and three new cyber-shot digital cameras in India.
The company’s high definition handycam video cameras will be available in the Rs 59,000 - Rs 69,000 range while its cyber-shot digital cameras will be available in the Rs 25,000 - Rs 30,000 range.
Sony India Managing Director Masaru Tamagawa said the company will invest US$0.5 million in marketing of high definition products in India. “We will sell 3,00,000 units of digital cameras in the current year,” Mr Tamagawa said. As a part of strengthening its distribution network, Sony India plans to add 50 new “Sony World” outlets, apart from the present 250 outlets across the country. Sony has its footprint across all major towns and cities in the country through a distribution network comprising of over 7,000 channel partners.
