Vocational training
The National Association for the Blind, Karnataka Branch is offering a two-year free vocational training in Basic General Mechanic (FITTER) Trade. This training is recognised by the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT), Department of Employment and Training. Blind candidates (male/female) off age group 16-30 years with a minimum educational qualification of 8th standard can apply for the training. SSLC Candidates will be given preference.

Meet against SEZs
An inter-state convention against special economic zones(SEZs) and land grabbing will be held in Bangalore on June 17, said CPI-ML State Secretary R Manasayya on Wednesday.
He said that SEZs would further devastate the economic condition of common people of the country, particularly, the farmers, while illegal grabbing of government lands had grown to be an equally serious problem.
The convention would discuss and devise concrete ways to fight them, both at State and national level, he added.

Teachers’ demand
Karnataka State Primary School Teachers’ Association has urged the State government to implement the interim recommendations of the fifth pay commission, immediately.
Speaking at a press meet in Bangalore on Wednesday, Association President Basavaraj Gurikar said the State government though had assured of implementing them, the issue had not been discussed in the recent Cabinet meeting.
He demanded action at the earliest.
