A mobile phone charging system with the help of a bicycyle, mobile synchroniser system, numerous yet attractive models of vehicles created by Sandeep Raikar of BEC, solid waste management prototypes, brake indicator in vehicles, Saturn Car for the disabled, Electronic stick for the blind, Remote office billings system using GSM module, Tsunami disaster detecting system, cellular controlling of field management, etc, were some of the highlights of the projects at Shrishti 2007.
It was a proud moment for the students of Basaveshwar Engineering college Bagalkot, when their college was adjudged the ‘overall champion’ at the ‘Srishti-07’, a state level project exhibition and competition of engineering students at Bagalkot.
‘Srishti’, an endeavour to bridge the gap between the academia and industry, came into existence in 2002. It is a state-level engineering students’ project exhibition and competition organised by VSS trust of Bangalore and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat and hosted by different engineering colleges of the state every year.
This time the host college BEC created a record of sorts by emerging winner. ISRO scientists, government authorities, businessmen and cellular companies topped the guest list of the gala fair, who spent more time with research students.
Nearly 218 projects were on display and some 184 sci- tech papers with innovative ideas presented simultaneously at seven places.
Many a user friendly and need based projects were on display. It was the sixth chapter of ‘Shrishti’ that began at KLE college of Engineering, Belgaum.A Srishti Projects development Network (SPDN) was formed in Hubli, to facilitate communication between the industrialists and the students fraternity, for converting commercially viable projects into products.
The innovative ideas of BEC students and efforts in organising the event paid off when the college received maximum number of prizes in both the sections, ie, projects and paper presentation, while BVB Engineering college of Hubli finished runners up. Undoubtedly, Shrishti-07 was a grand success with a bright future ahead.
