STUDYING IN INDIA
Dr Ali Khwaja

Dear Sir,
I am currently pursuing the Chartered Accountancy course. However, I  have realised that I have very little interest in this field and would like to pursue a course in Montessori training. Is it possible for me to switch to such a drastically different field considering I have no background of Psychology? Could you suggest some good institutes for the same and are there any good courses which can be done through correspondence ?
A confused student
Dear confused student,
There is nothing wrong in choosing a drastically different field if you are really interested in it and have the right skills. For a Montessori course you do not need a background in psychology.  You need to have immense patience, love for children, creative thinking, and the enthusiasm to be on your toes all the time.
Do understand that currently Montessori teaching may not get you the type of financial returns that you would get as a Chartered Accountant, but it is immensely rewarding to be a facilitator in a child’s overall development. While correspondence course is available, it is far more advisable to do a regular course as it gives you practical experience and lots of interaction.  Contact the Indian Montessori Academy at Himamshu School, Malleswaram. www.indianmontessoricenre.org
There is also a course conducted in school holidays for in-service teachers.  Contact Mrs. Rekha Reddy at Vidyanjali School (Ph: 23433818)

Dear Sir,
My younger brother studies in Sangli (Maharashtra) in the Shivaji university and is currently pursuing BBA course and has completed his first year there. He wishes to come into Bangalore and continue his studies. Can he get admissions in the Bangalore university directly for the 2nd year of BBA and if yes, which is the appropriate college for him to approach.
Secondly, our internet search revealed the course fees for BBA to be 85,000 per year. Is this correct? Can you advice us if there are any good colleges that offer this course at a lower cost?
Adwait Deshpande
Dear Adwait,
In Bangalore University the course is known as BBM (Bachelor of Business Management). Lateral admission in second year is given to candidates from other universities only after verifying that the syllabus is almost the same, and you will have to approach the University authorities with the details of his course. Fees for BBM in private managed affiliated colleges ranges from Rs. 40,000 upwards. Once the University accepts the candidate you should approach individual colleges.
