Dont harass poor: Minister to officials  
Do not trouble and taunt the poor and downtrodden by threatening them with the laws which do not even exist. The actual beneficiaries should be provided with the relief and necessary aid, District in-charge minister S A Ravindranath warned the officials.
'Extend welfare scheme to bagair hukum ryots'  
Zilla Panchayat meeting held in the City on Wednesday pressed the State government to extend benefit of welfare programmes launched by Department of Agriculture to bagair hukum farmers also.
Department heading for revolutionary changes: IGP  
Inspector General of Police (IGP) R K Datta of North-East Range, has called upon the police establishment to brace up for the revolutionary changes due to extensive application of information technology in police functioning and administration.
Fishing ban begins from June 10  
The State government has banned all fishing activities (using mechanised boats with more than 10 HP capacity engines) between June 10 and August 15 (both days inclusive).
