No trace of ecstasy was found in blood and urine samples of leading disc jockey Auqeel who was detained at the Dubai airport on Tuesday for allegedly possessing the banned drug, his lawyer claimed on Wednesday.
Auqeel’s lawyer Ashish Mehta told PTI that his client was held with 0.4gm of ecstasy drug which was found in his bag.
Blood and urine tests conducted by the police later did not show any trace of the drug, but now the matter will go to the court, the lawyer said.
‘We’ll fight’
Mr Mehtha also claimed that Auqeel, who was still in detention, was not a consumer of the drug. “We will fight the charges in court,” Mr Mehta added.
Indian consulate officials said they have not been contacted regarding the case.
Mr Auqeel had gone to Dubai for a radio programme on June three and his wife reached Dubai later. The popular DJ had arrived in Dubai on Sunday to play at a discotheque, but his detention prevented him from performing before his many local fans here.
Mr Auqeel’s wife Farah Khan claimed that he did not use drugs and alleged that “somebody must have planted” the contraband in his bag. She said 0.4 gms of ‘ecstasy’ drug was found in his bag.
