A day after TRAI forwarded its recommendations to curb telemarketing calls to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the Government on Wednesday announced guidelines for registration of telemarketers as the first step towards achieving the goal.
According to the guidelines, service providers would accept applications from a telemarketer in a prescribed proforma along with registration processing fee of Rs 1,000 per telemarketing centre.
The acknowledgement of the application would be treated as provisional registration valid for three months for providing service by telemarketer unless instructed otherwise.
Registration issued by DoT to the telemarketer would be valid for ten years.
Any person providing telemarketing service should register before August 31st.
