Governor T N Chaturvedi has taken strong exception to the proposed “special recruitment” of 251 assistant engineers and 452 junior engineers in the Public Works Department.
According to sources, the Governor has written a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard.
Details
In the letter, the Governor is understood to have expressed his surprise at the government’s failure to follow it’s own rules regarding appointments to government jobs framed barely six months ago. “Why the department wants to directly recruit the engineers instead of asking the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) to do it?”, the Governor is learnt to have questioned in the letter.
Stating that a bad precedent should not be set in the department, Chaturvedi is learnt to have said: “The matter should be discussed in the Cabinet and an appropriate decision should be taken” .
