FIC to enter Indian market
First Indian Corporation (FIC), a subsidiary of the $ 8.5 billion First American Corporation, announced in Bangalore on Wednesday that it is looking closely at the Indian market to offer its varied services with real estate as the focus sector. FIC offers title insurance, property tax, flood certification, default management services and credit & property information and other services to the real estate sector globally.
DSCL acquires Globeleq Intl
D S Constructions in 50:50 per cent partnership with Israel Corporation has bid and won the rights to acquire the Americas package of Globeleq International for $568 million. This was announced in New delhi on Wednesday. The Globeleq, a Bermuda power investment company, is part of London based CDC Group. The company created in joint venture with Israel Corporation plans to be a major player in the Global Power Sector and will be looking at acquiring more power assets in the near future. This move is in step with DSCL’s plan to be a 10,000 MW company within the next 10 years.
Signet Solar enters India
Signet Solar announced in Bangalore on Thursday its plans to invest over $ 2 billion towards establishing a manufacturing base in India. Signet Solar will build three solar photovoltaic manufacturing facilities, also known as fabs in the semiconductor industry. Each manufacturing facility is expected to have an annual output of about 300 MW. The construction of the first manufacturing plant in India will begin by early 2008.
Motorola’s new phone launched
Motorola on Wednesday introduced the new MOTOSLVR L9, a handset that merges multimedia features within Motorola’s sleek MOTOSLVR form factor. MOTOSLVR L9 provides users multimedia experience with features including an integrated music player and FM radio and camera. It comes with a 512MB card and an external microSD memory card capable of up to 2GB.
Intel introduces ‘3 Series’ chipset
At the Computex computer trade show at Taipei on Wednesday, Intel Corporation Executive VP Sean Maloney unveiled the new Intel 3 Series Chipset family along with several other technology plans that surround the company's popular Intel Core 2 Duo and Quad processors for home and business PC users, reports DHNS from Bangalore. The products enable features like clearer definition video and storage technologies. Maloney said the chipsets are also designed to be used with the company’s upcoming Intel 45 nm “Penryn family” processors, to be launched this year.
Elbit’s mega township in City
Israel’s property management company Elbit Medical Imaging announced on Thursday that it will build a residential project in Bangalore in joint venture with a local Indian developer. The company and the local partner will each invest about $ 180 million in the 300-acre project. The JV will be 50:50 owned by Elbit and its local partner, which Elbit did not name. The construction of the complex is to begin in the next 12 months and will be completed in 3-5 years.
Vishal Retail plans IPO
Vishal Retail, a retail house operating 50 stores spread over 18 cities across the country, will enter the capital market on June 11, 2007 with an initial public offering of equity shares aggregating Rs 110 crore. The price band for the issue, which is to be made through 100 per cent book building process, has been fixed at Rs 230-Rs 270 per equity share of Rs 10 each.
Mayfield’s India expansion plans
Mayfield Fund on Wednesday announced in Mumbai the addition of Nikhil Khattau and Vikram Godse to its India investment team. These professionals will be based in Mumbai. Their joining Mayfield follows the Fund's two direct investments during the past six months in India in Tejas Networks and the Seed Fund. Mayfield's activities in India are being led by U.S.-based MD Navin Chaddha and Robin Vasan.
