Daily wagers plan indefinite fast from June 11
Gulbarga, DH News Service:
Karnataka State Government Daily Wage Emoloyees Horata Samithi has decided to launch an indefinite fast from June 11 in Bangalore demanding regularisation of their service.

Karnataka State Government Daily Wage Emoloyees Horata Samithi has decided to launch an indefinite fast from June 11 in Bangalore demanding regularisation of their service.
Samithi president and Congress leader Chandrashekhar Hiremath himself will go on fast following the failure of the state government to keep its promise of regularising the services.
This is for the second time that the daily wage employees are going on indefinite fast in the capital. In November 2006, the daily wage employees working in different departments from the last several years had launched fast unto death. Following constitution of cabinet sub committee to go in to the issue the fast was withdrawn.
“But even seven months after the committee has not submitted its report. This clearely shows the contempt the government has towards daily wage employees,” Chandrashekhar Hiremath told media persons here on Thursday.
Hiremath said that the Samithi had been launching a number of agitations in the last two years demanding regularisation of services.
Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, during his maiden visit to the district an year ago had promised to regularise services and consequently, the employees had withdrawn the agitation.
Hiremath pointed out that although the daily wage employees have been doing the same work as the regular employees they were getting only one fourth of the salaries of the regular employees.
The number of daily wage employees was coming down every year and they have been deprived of all the facilities.
It was high time their services are regularised, he added.
Hiremath has asked daily wage employees all over the state to converge at Bangalore on June 11 at Chikkalalbag in Bangalore at 10.30 am.
He said about 10,000 daily wagers from Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Belgaum, Hassan, Mandya, Tumkur, Bidar, and  Gulbarga are expected to take part in the satyagraha.
