Jagadguru Sri Bharati Teertha Shankaracharya of Shringeri Sharada Peetha is touring Gulbarga district from June 8 to 12. The devotees of the swamiji have planned a rousing reception to the seer and have organised a number of functions.
That the swamiji is coming to the district after 14 years has enthralled thousands of followers of Shankara cult.
The swamiji will be entering the district through Deval Ghanagapur in Afzalpr taluk from Sindagi in Bijapur district. He is scheduled to perform Sri Sharada Chandramouleshwara pooja at Gulavani Math at the famous pilgrim centre presided over by Lord Dattatreya. On June 9 at 6 am the swamiji will perform Sri Narasimha Saraswati Nirguna Paduka poojs. He is also scheduled to visit the Sangam-confluence of rivers Amarja and Bhima- about 3 km from Ghanagapur. In the evening, he will be leaving for Gulbarga.
On June 9, Saturday, the swamiji will arrive at Gulbarga and he will be received with due religious fervour.
Sri Bharati Teertha will be received at the Sardar Vallabbhai Patel Circle by dignitaries including former chief minister and leader of the opposition in the Assembly Dharam Singh, ministers from the district Sharanabasappa Darshanapur and Revu Naik Belamgi and others. A Shobha Yatre will be taken out from the Patel Circle to Sangameshwara Sabhagruha. The swamiji will be felcitated at the Dattatreya Ranga Mandir of Nutan Vidyalaya.
On June 10, padapuja and other activities will be conducted and felicitation will be held. On June 11 the swamiji will be giving `phala mantrakshate’ to the devotees and he will be leaving for Surapur in the evening.
