SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS
Mahila Mandal to hold Marathi sammelan from June 9

   Sanmati Mahila Mandal, on the occasion of its silver jubilee celebrations is organising a conference of Marathi speaking people here for two days on June 9 and 10.
   The Mahila Mandal, which was established in 1984 has been conducting a number of social and cultural activities in the city. Mahila Mandal President Shubhada Kothari told media persons here on Thursday that the sammelan was intended at bringing the Marathi speaking people on a common platform.
   She said the Mandal had set up a fund for the welfare of physically challenged and had organised Jaipur artificial foot planting for the needy besides free eye check-up camps.
   The Mandali during the two-day convention will hold a number of sessions and activities by inviting personalities of consequence in the field of literature and culture.
   The convention will be inaugurated by Bakulabai Kantilal Shah and Dr  Sharayu Shah, a well known literary and cultural figure will preside over. Noted opthalmologist Dr Sudha Kankaria will be the chief guest.
Programme
   The convention wil be held at Kothari Bhavan and inauguration takes place at 10.15 am.
   It will be followed by debate session on issues concerning women, particularly the impact of science on them, effect of globalisation and Indian women, culture and tradition. Shobhana Shah, Dr Vijaya Telang, Dr Mayura Shah, Vandana Kinikar and Indumati Zahweri will participate in it.
   In the evening, quiz will be conducted, followed by poetry session.On June 10, in the early morning, music will be rendered by Kshitija Nirmiti of Solapur. Art exhibition and cultural programmes will follow.
   There will be valedictory function in the evening.
