Veereshwara Punyashrama of Gadag was the greatest school of master and disciple combination, which had rendered rare contribution to the music and literature, noted Hindustani vocalist Pundit Ganapathi Bhat Hasanagi said.
Speaking after inaugurating late Pundit Hanumant Singh Hangal decennial ceremony programme- Swara Shraddhanjali organised here recently, he noted that Pundit Panchakshari Gawai who gave shelter and knowledge to visually challenged and orphaned children was a great personality. Late Pundit Rajguru who rose to the pinnacle under the tutelage of Gawai, thus continuing the tradition the master and the disciple. He announced of performing rendition every year in memory of late Panchakshari Gawai.
Dr V K Chintamani who presided over the programme said that many music programmes had been organised under his organisation.
Pundit Puttaraj Kavi Gawai who received Guru Vandana and Tulabhara on the occasion and spoke.
The programme was organised under the aegis of Pundit Hanumant Singh Hangal Sangeeta Pratishtana and Ganagandharva Kala Trust. Later, Pundit Ganapathi Bhat performed music programme.
