“Much Cause For Concern” In Exports
New Delhi, June 7: Mr Morarji Desai, Commerce and Industry Minister, reported to the Export Advisory Council a shortfall of Rs 4 crores in India’s export earnings during 1956 over the previous year and said there was “much cause for concern” in the context of the substantial expansion in international trade.
Mr Desai, , said some of the agricultural commodities had proved “most disappointing.”
Ceylon will urge ban on A-tests
Colombo, June 7: The banning of nuclear and thermo-nuclear test explosions will be the subject on which Ceylon will seek to raise discussion at the forthcoming London conference of Commonwealth Prime Ministers, sources said
today. It was not certain yet whether the Prime Minister, Mr Solomon Bandaranaike, himself would be able to attend the conference.

Israel capture Beaufort Castle
Tel Aviv, June 7: Istael’s invading army said today it had captured the Palestinian stronghold of Beaufort Castle, one of main objectives of its campaign in South Lebanon.
Israeli infantry fought an epic hand-to-hand battle for the 1,000-year-old crusader fortress and met strong, well-organised resistance from guerillas, State Radio said.
