Care for some love company
After Company and D Company, it’s the turn of Love Company, which went on the floors recently at Kanteerava Studios. S Raj, who has earlier worked with Mahesh Bhatt, is turning director with this film, which is being produced by chicken supplier Aslam Khan.
The director who did not want to reveal much only said, “It is a film on mother-sister sentiments”.
Newcomers Pavan and Sahana are in the lead. Chetan is appearing in a police officer’s role. Raju Upendrakumar will be scoring the music.
Srinivasmurthy
Actor Srinivasmurthy belongs to that fast depleting bank of consummate actors who calls a spade, what else, but a spade. At the same time, he has also been full of praise towards co-actors, films etcetera. However, this habit of his also must have caused some heartburn. Case in point: At a press meet, Srinivasamurthy was lavish in his praise of actor-director Sudeep in ‘No 73, Shantinivasa’. And the press went to town, reminding all and sundry that the last time the veteran actor praised a film that way, the film had bombed (‘Gandugali Kumara Rama’).
Srinivasmurthy waited for his chance and at the press meet of ‘Jnana Jyoti Sri Siddhaganga’, told those assembled: “The press gave the impression to everyone that my praising the film and its crew caused Kumararama’s debacle. From now on, I shall not praise any film either during or after its making. Now, I shall praise it ‘before’ it is made!” Over to presswallahs. The oomph factor for ‘Orata’
Director Shree has roped in Mumait Khan, the girl who single-handedly brought back Jimmy Shergill from depression with her ‘Dekhle’ number in ‘Munnabhai MBBS,’ and who sizzled in ‘O Sikander’ in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Corporate’, to do an item number in his debut venture ‘Orata’.
“The song is being shot in a dhaba. We chose Mumbai-based choreographer Imran Sadaria because he specialises in this type of dance”, the director says. Imran has worked for both Hindi and Kannada films (remember Amruthadhare?). Anand, another choreographer, is being introduced in this film. Four songs have been shot and the picturisation of two other songs is yet to be completed, Shree adds.
The songs, composed by debutante Shankar, are being shot at Mullayyanagiri hills, Magadi and Bangalore. A club set was erected at Rockline Studios at a cost of Rs 20 lakh for the picturisation of a song recently. Yana, Mallika Sherawat and now Mumait Khan. Can Gandhinagar get any hotter than this? Or perhaps, Rakhi Sawant will be the next to ‘grace’ our films, eh?
A funny man to know
Actor Ramesh is revelling in his turn as a funny man. 'Rama Shama Bhama' provided ample
evidence to the fact. The actor, now busy with his second directorial venture, '(A) Satyavan Savitri' has gone ahead and ascribed animal/inanimate qualities to each character, including his own!!! To begin with, Ramesh is a wild horse ( he says so, not us), chasing er.. skirts, heroine Daisy Bopanna is like a goldfish, unwilling to look out of the bowlish existence she leads, actor Mohan is nothing but football ( check the film out to know why), Komal is similar to Tipu Sultan (ditto), Aniruddh is none other than Spiderman, climbing neighbours' walls at all times n helping them in distress and pretty Jennifer Kothwal is a desi Barbie Doll ( oh so delicate!). With a June release looming ahead, Ramesh sure seems to have a plan to attract as many people as possible — kids in particular!
When work turns pleasurable
It seems this actor-turned -director is actually a pleasure to work with. Other actors vouch for his punctuality, homework and eye to detail. What’s more, by the time, the clock inched towards 3 pm, everyone would know it was pack-up time! Only those scenes that required to be shot during nights would have a later closing time. With a hit under his belt and another in the making, Ramesh will have no dearth of callsheets for his subsequent ventures, should he permanently turn director.
