Miscreants broke into a house in Nagendra Garden in Banaswadi police limits and made away with gold ornaments, on Thursday. There was no one in the house, belonging to Prabhakar when intruders made off with 134-gm gold, 35-gm silver ornaments and a cellphone.
Another daylight break-in was reported at a house in MS Nagar in the same police limits, in which a laptop, a TV and DVD player worth Rs 55,000 were carted away. Kalabhavijaya, the owner, had kept its keys near the window making burglars’ task easy.
Very mobile robbers
The KR Puram police arrested a man within 24 hours after two complaints of cellphone thefts were lodged on Thursday. Two handsets were recovered from Girish Murthy (27) of Devasandra village.
Girish and his friend, yet to be identified, would stop call-centre cabs and ask for a lift. They would then threaten employees inside the cabs at knife-point and rob their mobiles.
But after Thursday night’s incident, drivers of the two cabs, one after the other, alerted the police, who managed to arrest Girish.
Inter-state burglars!
The Siddapur police arrested two persons on charges of house burglaries and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 4.5 lakh, cellphones, wrist watches and video cameras.
The two are: Nagaraj Neelakanthappa (27) of Vinayaknagar, and Rupesh Kumar (26) of Gollarapalli, Chittoor district.
Bank official stabbed
An assistant manager of SBI was severely injured when a gang of four stabbed him on Friday. Police said the incident took place near Kaigarikanagar when Nageshwar Rao (43) was returning home.
It is suspected differences existed between Rao and his wife. Police suspect the role of his wife’s relatives.
