The Commissionerate of Public Instructions has decided to initiate action against private educational institutions violating the admission norms and rules before June 20.
Commissionerate Director Mir Obedulla gave assurance to the fasting social worker Shaikh Shafi Ahmed.
The latter had launched a one day satyagraha in front of the Commissionerate Office on June 7 in protest against failure of educational authorities to tame the private educational institutions violating all rules and regulation with regard to admission.
Action
Mir Obedulla said action will be taken against all those who have been mentioned in Shafi Ahmed’s petition before June 20.
Following this assurance Shafi Ahmed withdrew his satyagraha. A number of organisations and individuals have extended support to Shafi Ahmed for the cause he was espousing.
Shafi Ahmed has been crusading against the violation of Karnataka Educational Institutions (Classification, Regulation, Etc) Rules, 1995, by number of educational institutions including S B Residential, St Joseph, St Mary’s, Nobel and Lilly Rose.
He has complained that the institutions were not maintaining transparency in admission of students resulting in exploitation of students and parents.
