Recapturing a bygone era

Leela Palace is hosting the Thanjavur food festival.
Chef Farman Ali from Jamavar will introduce customers to the royal Cholas, Nayaks and the Marathas.
Thanjavur, also known as the Green Mansion of the south, is a city of myriad flavours.
According to a release the cuisine at the hotel is said to capture the bliss of a bygone era, fostering the long legacy of culinary zeal.
Some of the festival specialities include appetisers  like Thulasi Paanagam which is Jaggery scented cooler flavoured with Indian Holy Basil, Neer Moru and Vasantha Neer which is mint flavoured tender coconut water.
The starters include dishes like Kara Vadai which are crispy fried spicy lentil cakes and Rava Paniyaram which is Semolina, lentil and coconut dumpling for vegetarians .
 The main course selections include Pachamaligai Kozhi Roast which is Chicken cubes stir-fried dry with green chilies and broiled spices, kari chukka, Thanjavur eral vathakal which is Shrimps tossed dry with homemade spices, Nagar  meen fry and Nandu Vadai which is Crab and lentil cakes.
The festival is on till June 13 at the restaurant for lunch and dinner.
