If you want a rerun of that time when you were in high school and there was that special person who brought butterflies to your stomach and a stupid grin to you face, then MP3 is just what the ordered doctor prescribed.
This is a movie about that age in life when girls learn to blush and boys stutter their lines and everything is a big deal in your love life. Ruslaan (Rahul) and Hazel (Ayesha) play Barbie and Ken, who break up over a silly reason and the girl leaves in a huff to ...Paris!
To woo his lady love the boy overcomes all hurdles to reach the Eiffel tower and kiss her under the shimmering lights, till her mother walks in on them. Certainly cute.
If you look closely, the first half reminds you an awful lot of a diluted version of Paul Weitz’s American Pie with the horny friend included. You just wished the characters were a little fleshed up. Oh, and do let us know where they make parents like Ruslaan’s father (Kanwaljit Singh) who not only provides money for his son’s date but also offers a chauffeur driven car! We all would like to place an order for that one.
This movie is not about technicalities though cinematography is good. It aims at telling you a simple love story and does a decent job at it.
The look is fresh and the actors (thankfully) suit the ages that they play! MP3 does not revive the romance that Maine Pyaar Kiye brought, but it is not a bad attempt either. Strictly recommended only with the right company that you can snuggle up to.
