When you walk into an Oceans movie, it’s better to be fully aware that you’re paying only to watch the crème-de-la-crème of entertainers share a screen, to be able to fix your eyes on the kissable Brad Pitt not blinking once, to view the team perform technological miracles while making it seem like a piece of blueberry cheesecake, and somewhere, there will be a faint semblance of a story weaving all these points together somehow, but dare you split hairs about it!
Ocean’s Thirteen brings back heist-Guru Danny Ocean and his wonderboys, and this one is for Reuben. Billionaire hotelier Willy Bank (Pacino) should’ve known better than to abrade our men by doublecrossing Reuben (Gould) and transforming his hotel into a plush Casino, after almost wringing the life out of him. The Oceans team gets busy with leaving no stone unturned when it comes to sabotaging the grand opening of Bank’s casino and robbing him of the items on his ‘want list.’ And we know what an effort that can be since they’re Superman, Fantastic Four and Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible all packed into one.
Apart from the brilliance of the stars (minus Julia Roberts this time), the comic instances, peachy screenplay and spectacular visuals make Ocean’s Thirteen a fun stretch to sail on.
