With no respite in sight from the scorching heat, the city continued to suffer from hot winds and soaring temperatures on Friday.
From a maximum of 42.5 degree celsius on Thursday, the temperature rose to 42.8 degrees by Friday afternoon, two degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was 33.5 degrees celsius - six degrees above normal.
"The temperature will continue to rise”, according to an Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) official.
"It's getting worse every day. It has become very difficult to bear the burning sensation. I feel exhausted while driving my motorbike," a marketing executive, Dinesh Sharma, said.
