Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya, Abhishek, Lara Dutta, Bipasha Basu and Ritesh Deshmukh are all set to embark on a world tour from April 2008 showcasing Indian cinema.
This was announced by Wizcraft, the organisers of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards here on Friday.
Indian cinema’s superstars will reach out to fans across six continents and 18 countries, said International Indian Film Academy brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan announcing the tour here on Friday.
Elated Big B
“I started going on world performance tours in 1981 along with Kalyanji-Anandji and we first went to UK.”
“Later I went with Lata Mangeshkar to the United States and the idea for a world tour with our top artistes took birth then. I am glad it is going to happen at least now,” said an excited Amitabh.
He also introduced his co-artistes who will be part of the tour — son Abhishek, daughter-in-law Aishwarya, Lara Dutta, Bipasha Basu, Ritesh Deshmukh and choreographer Shiamak Davar, who will direct the whole show.
‘Unforgettable’
The tour to be called “The Unforgettable Tour — Experience the magic…” will have joint performances by the stars.
For the first time, the three Bachchans will come together to perform on stage in mainstream international venues and also in smaller cities.
Another unique aspect of the tour will be the The Unforgettable television series, a never-seen before televised show that will capture all the excitement of being “on the road” with the biggest names of Indian showbiz. Fans can also track the movements of their favourite stars on a specially created website – www.theunforgettabletour.com.
The interactive website will allow fans and supporters to browse through star photo galleries, contests and opportunities to win or buy star-endorsed merchandise.
