Police behaviour inhuman
By Jagadish Angadi,DH News Service,Bangalore:

“Police is responsible for my husband’s death. We requested the head constable to allow us to take him to the hospital. But he behaved inhumanely. He saw the pathetic condition of my husband and even tried to frighten him. My husband breathed his last as he was unable to see my son being bashed up by the police. It was enough to break his heart,” said Chikkathayamma, wife of Thimmaiah (75), after the doctors took the body to conduct a post mortem in KIMS Hospital.
She asked, “What is important, saving the life of a person or registering a case? My son Murthy pleaded that he would come back and pay fine. The doctors at the hospital said they could have saved my husband if we had brought him just 10 minutes early. The delay caused his death”, she said.
Krishnamurthy, Thimmaiah’s another son said:” We took him to a private nursing home in Bapujinagar. The doctors told us to shift him to KIMS as his condition was growing worse. My brother, an autorickshaw driver, was so tense that he forgot to wear his uniform and take the registration certificate and the driving licence. The head constable should have considered the situation my brother violated the norm.”
Thimmaiah’s brother S D Devaraju said, “My brother served as a store keeper in Shanthinagar. We never imagined that inhuman attitude of police would end his life. The head constable saw my brother in a critical condition and then slapped Murthy’s face several times.”
Tense situation
All of them claimed that the head constable removed the autorickshaw key and directed Murthy to get down. The situation turned tense after he slapped Murthy. When he saw several auto drivers approach the spot he threw the key and tried to flee. When one of the auto drivers snatched his cap, he managed to remove the number fixed on the cap and fled. Thimmaiah’s family members took the cap and went to the hospital.
Some police officials said, “A faction of a pro-Kannada organisation is trying to utilise the incident to project the police as anti-public. They are demanding action against the head constable for doing his duty. If traffic goes to the dogs the same people hold police responsible. If we act, we are being projected as devils.”

The concerned Head consable should be immediatley dismissed from services and the commisioner of police should be held responsible for the action of the police. When ever a train derails for the fault of the engine driver, the Railway minister will be asked to resign. In this case the police commissioner should be held responsible.
The police should behave like humans with the public because their salaries are paid by the public money.

Most of the low rank police personal belong to poor background and which means poorly educated. So it is natural their behavior with general public will lack decency. Therefore one cannot expect decent behavior from such police personal. So to keep one’s dignity, just follow the traffic rules.

It pains me whenever I see/hear such incidents.True indeed, the cops have become rogues in uniform. They really don't assess the situations like this and act irresponsibly. It's a shame on such people who are the adulterants of the Bangalore Police. It's very important that these cops be taught some moral lessons and human values which they have been devoid of in their school.Hope the Bangalore City Police imparts such education during their taining & monitoring.

This is indeed a poor story.
Its true that not only Traffic Police, All should abide by law. But there are situations like this which are life or death during which humanitarian behaviour is expected from one and all.

There are umpteen cases that happen where Police Department behaves really rude with public. We understand their duty and norms of society, but the way they behave with normal public should come out with a justice.
Let court put forward an amedment considering cases like thi

sir,

it is disgusting to see the police behaviour has cost a life and the police top brass is trying to defend the actions of the policeman. after having lived all my life in bangalore, i know the character of out city policemen. it was no duty conciousness, but the lure of making a fast buck from the driver not in uniform that pushed the policeman. unfortunately it has cost a life. it is high time the people protested against the hight handed behaviour of traffic cops.

The attitude of the Head Constable was xtremely cruel. He could have taken the number of the auto and allowed it to go to the hospital considering the situation of the man in it. Law should be there to help man and not to kill them. The HO should be arrested and charged for killing.

You policemen do your duty with humane consideration. If the auto driver would have stuck a 50Rs note out, the constable would have stuck his tougue out. Cops in bangalore are the worst behaved inhuman animals. Only interested in fleecing motorist. shame on them
