A GP member who also stole!
DH News Service,Bangalore:
A gram panchayat member allegedly involved in over half a dozen burglary cases was arrested by the City police on Monday.

A small crowd that had gathered in front of the photography section at Police Commissioner's office were taken aback on seeing an accused throw his weight around, directing the police to complete the formalities fast. They burst into laughter on learning the Mahadevapura police had brought a criminal-turned politician - Alangor Gram Panchayat member (Mulbagal taluk, Kolar district) Sree Rama alias Venkatamuniyappa (35) - on burglary charges.
With the arrest of Sree Ram and his associate Srinivas alias Seena alias Munivenkatappa (35), six cases in KR Puram, HAL and Mahadevpura police stations have been solved.
Gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 4.5 lakh and four motorcycles were recovered from them.
Police said Sree Rama had been indulging in criminal activity for many decades. Even after being elected as gram panchayat member, he continued this activity.
The duo, according to the police, used to steal two-wheelers from targeted houses.
