Programme to revive Natakada Mane on March 15

Aayana Natakada Mane will be revived in Mangalore to give a boost to the Kannada theatre activities, said President U Sadashiv Rao.
Addressing a press meet here on Monday, he said a programme to revive Aayana Natakada Mane will be held on March 15 at Don Bosco hall in Mangalore. On the occasion, Girish Karnad’s ‘Hayavadana’ will be staged. The drama is directed by Ivan D’Silva.
He said as part of the programme, there will be discussion on Theatre Director and Activist Prasanna’s book ‘Nataneya patagala bagge’ on the occasion. The discussion will include Dr Na Damodar Shetty, Dramatist Na Srinivas.
Mohanchandra’s ‘Ivalajjiyu adamajjanu’ will be released on the occasion. Critic Gulabi Bilimale will introduce the book to the audience. Mr Rao said Aayana Natakada Mane was started way back in 1983 and have staged more than 25 drama so far. This include ‘Aaayana basti,’ ‘Julias Ceasar,’ ‘Halli Hudugi,’ ‘Kariyana Kolu’ etc. However, there has been drastic reduction in the Kannada theatre activities in the Coastal district in the past few years.
Aayana will try to instill theatre discipline among the youth and make them a good artistes.
