High Court judge A S Pachpure regretted that some family disputes which can easily be solved amicably are entering the courts.
He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop held as part of Women’s Day at the SSK Community Hall here. The workshop aimed at creating legal awareness among women was organised by Taluk Legal Services Committee, Advocates’ Association and Women and Child Welfare Department.
“If only we understand others’ mind many of the problems facing the country and the world would be solved. Try to read minds. Spoilt minds only contribute to the growing list of court cases,” he added.
“Though there is a law prohibiting dowry we see many a case of harassment of women. Law will not be able to win over minds. A mind can be won over by another mind. We must work towards achieving that,” he opined.
Stree Shakti Groups are growing. Every village should have such groups. They must stand against harassment of women, justice Pachpure added.
District Sessions Judge P Krishna Bhat presided over the function. In his address he said, law books have not been able to provide social equality. If only we practice the social bonding all evils of the society can be ended.
Advocates S N Muralidhar, M Nagendrappa, Venkataramareddy and others spoke on the law against atrocities against women. Advocates C H Pushpanjalidevi, S H Manjunath, T J Rangappa, V Sriram and others took part in the workshop.
Taluk Women and Child Development officer Shivakumaraiah compered the programme.
