Gambling proves deathly
KGF, dhns:

Family members of Selvam, the auto driver who was  murdered, staged a protest for several hours on Monday along with the body, as they alleged that the Urigam police had allowed the accused to go scot free after accepting money from them.
Selvam, a resident of N T Block in KGF was murdered by his associates on Saturday night. The three accused in the murder case had been taken into custody while the prime accused is absconding.
However, it has been alleged that the Urigam police have released Rajesh, Murugesh and Jayakumar after accepting money.
The family members staged a protest stating that they would not remove the body till the time the accused are arrested. However, Urigam police inspector Musthaq Pasha immediately despatched the police and the accused were arrested. Only then Selvam’s family members decided to withdraw the protest and took away the body. Selvam (26) hit a jackpot in gambling which turned out to be deathly, the police sources informed.
Jackpot
Later, Selvam was found dead in a suspicious manner on Saturday night.  However, within 24 hours the police found out that Selvam and his friends had gone to gamble in a deserted place. Selvam had won Rs 20,000 in a jackpot and his friend had pledged his mobile for Rs 2,000  as he lost in the game.
However, after the game when he asked for his mobile, Selvam refused to hand him over his mobile.
Inorder to teach him a lesson Selvam’s friends asked him to come to a nearby marriage hall. They snatched the mobile from Selvam and beat him mercilessly. Selvam is said to have died on the spot.
The general public have expressed their anger against the police as they have not been able to contain the sale of lottery, gambling and other illegal activities in the KGF Zilla Police limits.
