Planning to buy vehicle? Good news for you  
Vehicle owners and those planning to buy can relax for sometime. For, Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram has not imposed any additional tax on motor vehicles.
BUDGET AT A GLANCE  
Dip in commercial tax, registration  
The Karnataka budget presented by Union finance minister P Chidambaram painted a gloomy picture of the collections made under commercial taxes and stamps and registration while there was a shortfall in some of the Centrally sponsored schemes (CSS).
Irrigation gets big boost  
There is a substantial increase in the allocation for major, medium and minor irrigation sector in the State budget for 2008-09.
VAT rates unchanged  
With P Chidambaram leaving commercial tax levies untouched in the state budget proposals for 2008-09, consumers will continue to pay the same VAT rates on purchases as they have been doing for the last one year.
