Speaking after inaugurating extension of microtron building in Mangalore University here on Tuesday, he said the advisory committee is seeking inputs from the faculty and research scholars to upgrade the microtron centre.
He said there are 23 ongoing research projects which utilise the microtron facility and 10 research proposals. With the expansion, the potential of the microtron will be exploited fully.
Bangalore University former vice-chancellor Prof K Siddappa said the faculty in the microtron centre needs to be strengthened. The extended building will have a digital library and seminar hall soon. This facility will improve the quality of the ongoing works.
He said students should be exposed to the microtron facility so that they will be motivated to undertake qualitative research in the field.
Stating that compared to China, India’s progress is the field of research in minimum, Prof Siddappa said China has gone ahead from the low level. “We must produce more quality papers to stand out in the international field.”
