The forest fire which has been raging in the Kudige forest since the last four days, showed signs of weakening on Tuesday. The intense forest fire which broke out in the Anekkadu Reserve Forest near Kushalnagar on Sunday, spread even to Attoor forest near Guddehosuru. However, the vigil kept by the Forest Department reduced the intensity of the forest to some extent on Monday. The bamboo shrubs and other valuable trees were engulfed by the forest fire which raged for four days in succession. However, sources said that the wild elephants in the forest have escaped to safer areas. Hundreds of forest officials led by Anekkadu RFO M S Chinnappa and farmers belonging to the tribal community of Mavinahalli were continuously engaged in vanquishing the forest fire. Tribal leader J P Raju, R K Chandru and others were seen pouring water to stop the raging fire.
