HPStorageWorks, on Tuesday, announced availability of two new storage products — HP StorageWorks 2000 Modular Smart Array (MSA 2000), and HP StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA4400), specifically addressing the SMB market segment.
Briefing reporters, HP StorageWorks India Country Manager Manoj Suvarna said “the two products are aimed to serve the one plus million SMB’s in the country.” The need to service the SMB segment, primarily arises, from emerging markets of, co-operative grameen banking, insurance and healthcare, wherein, SMB sector is active, and are present in Tier II & Tier III cities, he added.
With these two products, HP hopes to address expotential growth of data, and more applications, required by these SMB’s, as also storage solutions with features of reliability availability serviceability (RAS), and virtualization, at lower costs.
Future Trends
The two will bring around 20 per cent reduction in the total cost of ownership (TCO), compared to existing storage solutions Mr Suvarna said.
HP StorageWorks 2000 MSA 2000 is priced between US$ 10,000 to US$15,000, and HP StorageWorks 4400 EVA4400 at US$ 15,000.
Speaking on current and future trends in storage industry, quoting from an AMI study, he said current SMB market for India was worth US$350 million in 2007, and was estimated to grow 30 per cent, annually.
