It was a day of unmitigated enjoyment for travellers aboard The Golden Chariot on the second day of its first commercial run on Tuesday. The train touched Mysore around Monday midnight. By then, the visitors had a feel of luxurious dining on board at `Ruchi’ and `Nalapaka’ restaurants.
After a restful sleep, the day began with music rendered by a nadaswaram troupe at the station. The tourists were then taken to Srirangapatna in airconditioned buses. They also visited the Tipu Sultan palace, Daria Daulat and St Philomena’s Church. After lunch at Regalis, they visited the Chamundi Hills which houses the monolithic bull. The tourists, particularly the foreigners, were spellbound by the creation.
Later, the team spent nearly 90 minutes at the Mysore Palace admiring the art, architecture and the artefacts here.
The day had a grand finale with folk dance at Rangayana theatre in Mysore. The energetic performance enraptured the tourists.
The puja punitha with the local deity and numerous decorations on a bamboo stick thrilled the visitors no end.
The train has been halted at Mysore for the night. The tourists will visit the Kabini Wild Life Sanctuary tomorrow.
