PG Programme in Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), Ahmedabad, a national resource Institute in Entrepreneurship education, training and research, had announced its Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Business Entrepreneurship for the year 2008-10.

The AICTE approved, Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Business Entrepreneurship has been especially designed for new entrants in business so that they acquire skills and learning to perceive opportunities, utilise these optimally and thus build a viable organisational network by assembling land, labour, capital and managerial expertise. Besides, unlike a management programme, which gives importance to management inputs alone, a course in entrepreneurship covers all aspects of an enterprise, in addition to the ones on the management front.
The course has four specialisation streams viz. New Enterprise Creation (NEC), Family Business Management (FBM), Agri-Entrepreneurship and Services Management.

New Enterprise Creation: The objective of this specialisation is to provide comprehensive knowledge and develop competencies to start your own independent business. This will be useful for those who want to launch their own business, wish to become a small-medium industry consultant, counsellor or teacher-trainer with specialised post-graduate qualification.

Management of Family Business: This specialisation is designed for students interested in the issues, problems and unique concerns of family business involvement and management.

Agri-Entrepreneurship: This specialisation will develop agri-preneurs with traits and skills to exploit opportunities in the field of agriculture. The students will master the techniques of setting up an agri-enterprise as also compete in the international market.

Services Management: The objective of this specialisation is to provide an in-depth analysis of the opportunities in the services sector and an understanding of the business and managerial practices prevalent therein which would lead to successful new venture creation and management. The emphasis will also be on the customer-relationship as a new management tool along with planning, designing and managing retail business formats.
This 2 year, residential programme is spread over four phases. For the 2008-2010 batch the academic year begins on July 07, 2008.

The emphasis throughout the course is on action learning. Business games, computer simulation, live projects, role plays, case-based teachings, field work and group work will be combined to create an environment which challenges individuals to define problems and find workable solutions.

Graduates who intend to launch and manage business units, young graduates from family businesses that intend to develop their potential successors can join this course. Last date for submission of filled-in application forms is April 21, 2008.

For application form and detailed information, write to the Course Director, E-Mail : pgp@ediindia.org
