A case has been registered in this regard at Barke police station, said Mayor Ganesh Hosabettu.
Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, he said the accused were trying to pay the contractors for the works undertaken under MLA Yogish Bhat’s fund.
He said there were eight such files and the proof of forgery of one file is available at present with the Mangalore City Corporation. It was said that Executive Engineer had taken eight files to the residence of Commissioner three days ago as he had doubts about the signature and the office note.
The commissioner had sought the spot inspection to see if the work had been done, but the note says: “The spot inspection has been done and administrative approval is given.” However, the signature and office note is not written by the Commissioner.
“This is an attempt to get even when the work is not done. This is an attempt of misappropriation,” said Joint Commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde.
He said that he has already brought the matter to the notice of Deputy Commissioner and has urged the DC to appoint an Enquiry Officer to look into all the files in the MCC.
SAS
MCC Chief Whip Shankar Bhat said though SAS will be implemented in the City limits from April 1, MCC will discuss the matter in the monthly meeting and constitute a expert committee to look into pros and cons of the SAS. We will see that SAS will be implemented without burdening the commonman.” The next Mangalore City Corporation meeting will also discuss the matter related to the reduction in the water tax.
He said the tender for the developmental works worth Rs 25 crore have been invited.
Mr Bhat said “the term of the previous street light contractor will get over by April. Re-tender will be invited. We have made four zones of ward with 15 wards each. Preferences will be given for the localites.”

The Mayor also informed that the tender process for the construction of new slaughterhouse at Pacchanady is on.
Deputy Mayor Shakeela Kava and others were present.
