The annual four-day cultural fest of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Revels-08, with the theme ‘India expression for the nation’ was inaugurated at Quadrangle, MIT on Tuesday.
Manipal University Vice Chancellor Dr R P Warrier was the chief guest at the function. The Revels mascot was unveiled on the occasion. Performance by musical troupe ‘Jago Hindustani’ set a jovial mood at the ceremony. MIT Director S S Pabla and Joint Director Muniswarar were present on the occasion.
Prior to the inaugural ceremony, addressing media persons, MIT Director S S Pabla informed that the fest features over 52 events that promises to unveil the finest of talents. The fest includes events like eastern vocal, semi classical dance competitions, debate, mock press, pot pourri, extempore, sports, quiz, fashion show and so on. The fest will continue till March 15.
Day 2
Revels Inter-Collegiate Sports Competition 2007-2008 was inaugurated by Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Ashith Mohan Prasad on Wednesday. As many as 20-25 teams from Bangalore, Mangalore, Udupi and Manipal participated in the tournament. The cash award for these events totals upto Rs 30,000. The basketball matches began on Wednesday, while the football and badminton matches will commence from Thursday. Table tennis match will be held on March 14.
