The Centre on Wednesday confirmed that one among the seven persons arrested recently in Karnataka in connection with the alleged terrorist plot, has been trained in Pakistan and had connections with terror group Laskar-e-Toiba (LeT).
Minister of State for Home Affairs Sriprakash Jaiswal informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply that “according to information provided by the Government of Karnataka to the Centre, two persons were arrested on suspicion that they were riding a stolen two wheeler.”
“During interrogation, they revealed their activities and plans to commit serial blasts and other serious offenses,” he said.
On the basis of investigations, another five persons were arrested. Investigation also revealed that some persons including the arrested persons had held a series of meetings in Hubli, Dharwad and Uttar Kannada districts to execute their plans.
One of the arrested persons, Nasir is reported to attend training in Pakistan and had connections with LeT, the Minister said.
“Some of the others, who had attended the meetings, are reported to be members of the banned organisation SIMI. Further investigations are continuing, he said.
