Pakistan has asked India to investigate the death of its national in judicial custody here a month ago and apprise it about the findings.
The Pakistan High Commission has asked the India to keep it posted over the result of the investigation, sources in the Mission said on Wednesday. Mehmood, hailing from Lahore, had come to watch the India-Pakistan cricket match in Kanpur in April 2005. He was given visa for 16 days but reportedly went missing. He was arrested a year later in Faridabad and jailed for overstaying his visa permit. The 35-year-old died on February 12 at AIIMS, in New Delhi, where he was admitted after falling ill in Gurgaon jail.
