Cognizant opens delivery centre in Argentina
Cognizant, on Wednesday, announced the inauguration of its 35th global delivery centre in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The new centre will support Cognizant’s North American customers in a similar time zone, leverage techno-functional and lingual capabilities available in the region to service global customers, and provide a base with deep local insights for Cognizant to service customers in South America, said the company.
Cognizant has set up the new facility that can accommodate 250 professionals. Cognizant’s association with Buenos Aires commenced in 2007 with a model of co-creating value for Kimberly-Clark Corporation (K-C), jointly working with their local teams.
ARM’s Bangalore centre to become second largest
ARM, an IT designing company, on Thursday, announced the opening of larger offices in India to house expanded operations that will lead to its becoming the second largest design centre for the company outside its Cambridge, UK headquarter. Prince Andrew, The Duke of York KG KCVO, inaugurated ARM’s new Bangalore-based design centre. ARM India is expected to increase its staff from the current 350 people, with the expanded team of engineers focusing on next-generation ARM technology for advanced digital products, said the company.
Mahindras inaugurate steel processing plant
Mahindra Intertrade Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M), on Wednesday, inaugurated an electrical steel processing plant in Vadodara. The facility, which was set up at a cost of Rs 30 crore, will manufacture laminations for transformer cores, with high-tech processing back-end for transformer OEMs located in Gujarat. The plant aims to grow into one of the largest such facilities anywhere in the world, claimed the company.

IOC, Maruti ink deal for lubricants marketing
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has signed an agreement with Maruti Suzuki India for marketing its lubricants under the latter’s genuine parts trademark. In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State in Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry, Dinsha Patel said the agreement is for marketing Maruti Genuine Oil, which allows IOC to use trademark ‘Maruti Genuine Part’.
India’s first collaborative industry platform for arts
Hanmer MS&L, a multi disciplinary communications firm, announced on Thursday the launch of “India Art Summit”, a first of its kind initiative in India. Proposed as a collaborative industry platform, India Art Summit will be India’s first and largest collective showcase of Art. The two day summit is scheduled to take place in August 2008 in New Delhi and will be an annual event.
