When Sudha parted ways with her first husband, Lingaraj, and fell in love with a married man, Narasegowda, she had no clue that one day it would lead to her death.
Gauramma, Sudha’s mother, a resident of Kabbal near Sathnur, was highly inconsolable as she told Deccan Herald how her daughter fell victim to Gowda’s alleged lust for more money. Sudha could not lead a contended married life with Lingaraj due to various reasons. A disillusioned Sudha spotted Gowda, a car driver in Bangalore, in Sathnur one day and was attracted towards him. She fell in love with Gowda, who started visiting Kabbal to meet Sudha frequently. Gowda was staying with his first wife and a son in Bangalore. Lingaraj was shocked to learn about the developments and left the village never to return. No one knows his whereabouts.
There was strong opposition from Sudha’s parents when she decided to marry Gowda. However, she ignored their pleas, came to Bangalore with Gowda and married him. Gowda’s second wife left the house along with her son after the marriage.
According to Gowramma, Gowda started asking Sudha to bring money from her parents’ house. There used to be frequent quarrels between the two over this. Fifteen days ago, Gowda reportedly directed Sudha to bring Rs 10,000. When Sudha approached her parents, they expressed their helplessness. After two days, Gauramma, managed to adjust Rs 5,000 and gave it to her daugther, and four days back, she sent another Rs 5000 to Sudha. Despite receiving Rs 10,000, Gowda is said to have again started harassing Sudha for money, said Gauramma, who held her son-in-law responsible for the death. “All I want is to trace him and punish him,” she said.
GANG MURDERS WOMAN
A 27-year-old woman was reportedly murdered by unidentified persons in the Basaveshwaranagar police station limits on Thursday. She has been identified as Sudha, a resident of Cauverynagar in Kurubarahalli.
The incident came to light around 6 am. There was no response when house owner Doddaiah tried to wake up Sudha as he wanted to request her to collect drinking water from the tap. He noticed the house being locked from outside and lights burning inside. He grew suspicious as he had noticed Sudha’s husband, Narasegowda, leaving the house in a hurry just hours before. He went near a window and was shocked to see Sudha’s body hanging from the ceiling. He immediately informed the police, Doddaiah told Deccan Herald. He used to drive a government car. Recently, he had started driving a Tata Sumo, he added. Police said there were scars on Sudha’s neck. The preliminary investigation suggested it was a case of murder, said inspector Shamanna while refusing to divulge details of the persons the police suspected.
